Top 10 Goals To Create A More Meaningful Life

Hello beauties!

The concept of living a “meaningful life” is en vogue of late, as more and more people seek to live a life of purpose, in which each day is full of meaning, a sense of mission, and direction. This sounds great and all, but the pursuit of a meaningful life also brings up some challenging questions. To start with, what is “meaning?” How does one identify truly meaningful goals? And how does a person stay motivated to do the work that goes into creating a more meaningful life?

Turns out, a lot of it comes down to turning our life priorities into achievable goals that are guaranteed to make our lives better simply by pursuing them. Additionally, they shape you in the process so that you can be the best person you can possibly be!

1. Be Yourself
It can be hard not to compare ourselves to others (because it’s so easy that sometimes we can’t help it, right?) but remember that when we’re doing this we’re not truly being ourselves. This is purely because we’re thinking about someone else, not ourselves. Don’t ever be afraid of being yourself out of fear of judgement or rejection. Yes, those things happen every day but it’s most definitely not a good enough reason to not be yourself – or even not true to yourself.

2. Do What You Love
When we tell others that we want to do something because we love it, they may not always be understanding or supportive at first. But don’t let this cause you to lose hope, because at the end of the day it’s your choice (and yours alone) what you choose to do. You’re not here to live someone else’s dream and life, right? You’re here for you! So whatever you end up doing in life, make sure that it’s something you love and are genuinely passionate about.

3. Work On Yourself
No one is perfect, we all have flaws and imperfections. It’s also true that we can always improve, no matter what we have to work with initially. Working on yourself doesn’t happen overnight – you won’t wake up the next morning with completely different values or ways of behaving to certain situations. It definitely takes time and plenty of development, but it’s 100% worth doing because you’re shaping yourself into being the best person you could possibly be!

4. Inspire Others
If you’ve ever inspired others, even if it’s just one person, you’ll know how incredible it feels. And an added bonus is that it’s so easy to do! You can do inspire others by simply sharing something that you know and feel, because even though it might be a natural way of thinking to you, others may not be aware of it yet. Inspiring others is giving a piece of yourself (even just a simple thought or feeling) so that others have the chance to learn from us.

5. Speak From The Heart

6. Take Chances
Chances and risks are scary, and I’m sure deep down we all know that’s true. Naturally, we want to steer away from those things because we know that’s where uncertainty and unpredictability lies, and that can be truly terrifying. But taking a chance is the difference between discovering something new or never knowing at all, changing the ways things are in a positive way or leaving them be, allowing for personal growth and learning along the way or staying exactly the same throughout your life, never experiencing or learning anything new.

7. Make A Difference
We only have one, short life so why not make our mark on the world that is ours? Making a difference doesn’t have to be anything huge or extravagant, it can be done in very small and simple ways on a daily basis. Everyone will have a different idea of what ‘giving back’ means, and it’s up to the individual to choose how they go about making this happen, so please take some time to consider what it means to you personally…what’s your idea of giving back?

8. Be Passionate
Whenever you do something that you are passionate about, it gives meaning to life. Sometimes it can be difficult to balance work, relationships, and passion. But a life without being passionate about something can feel empty.

9. Be Kind
Kindness is not just a feeling, it’s an emotion that leads to action. Kindness gives warmth to a life. Each kind interaction triggers a feeling of connection and pleasure. Actually, kind action is something that gives meaning to your life AND makes you feel happy!

10. Strive For A Better Future
Striving for a better future can take many forms, but it always entails developing as a human being. If you strive for a better future, you subscribe to life-long learning. New skills make us more effective in the world, both for our own life, as well as for the cause we serve.

So what about happiness? How do meaning and happiness intersect? My take is that happiness is the by-product of a meaningful life. On its own – as a life goal – happiness can feel shallow. But once you focus on leading a meaningful life, you will feel fulfilled and experience not only fleeting sensations of happiness, but a lasting sense of joy.

I completely and utterly think that happiness is a worthy life goal! Completely! No matter what you have or what you’re doing, I can’t see the point if after everything you’re not happy. Since I was little actually and people have asked me what I want to be in life, I’ve always said ‘happy’!

    • Being happy is definitely an important aspect of our lives. I tend to find happiness in everything. By doing that I feel more complete. I can’t imagine if happiness was taking away from me, I probably wouldn’t be a person I am today. Thank you for stopping by and taking time to leave such a meaningful comment 🙂
